History Making Customer Use Cases

by | January 23, 2019

It seems today that the once boring IT team is now center stage to some incredible revolutionary moment in time. I’m talking about a moment like when the light bulb was invented – in our case the ever-increasing usage of IoT devices and the inter-connectivity of 5G into everything around us from connected cars to the next generation of mobile devices. Having visibility across these incredible opportunities isn’t easy and it goes without saying how complex these new technologies will impact every business.

As you would imagine, everyone is dealing with growing pains as these technologies move from their infancy into full-fledged deployments and usage. Having the right solutions to monitor and test applications and the underlying infrastructure is critical. Not to mention that fact that application reliability at scale is no longer a nice to have, but a must have. Getting full control in this moment of IT history takes the right platform for monitoring and testing performance of all things IT.

I wanted to share a couple of customer use cases of companies that are right in the midst of this history-making moment. Below is a summary for each company and how we are helping these companies establish better monitoring and testing to achieve their business-critical goals.

SODEXO

Sodexo, a food services and facilities management company, needed to support the applications teams and the IT Ops group to deliver a consistent approach for monitoring and troubleshooting performance issues internally and through its cloud vendor’s SLA agreements. Sodexo also has a cloud-first approach to application hosting, and needed a way to monitor both its legacy and future cloud infrastructure.

By selecting Apica Synthetic Monitoring, Sodexo could now guarantee availability of its internal applications and monitor cloud vendor SLA agreements. Apica Synthetic also provided the ability to securely monitor internal and external applications from a single system, and access to script expertise support from a professional services team. LINUX FOUNDATION

As a hub of activity for a wide variety of projects and events, the Linux Foundation’s mission is to bring the open-source community together; therefore connectivity is critical. People around the globe need to access the resources the Linux Foundation provides on its website, but the load time for its events pages, specifically in mainland China, was painfully slow, along with other problems such as timeouts. With the high demand for technology development in China, they needed a way to effectively monitor website performance to deliver a better user experience.

By leveraging Apica’s worldwide monitoring network, the Linux Foundation team was able to quickly determine that the website performance was greatly improved and that local contractors, as well as staff outside the country, could easily monitor performance. By quickly deploying Apica Synthetic and beginning to monitor website performance, they could immediately, both from within the country and remotely see the website performance and user experiences. Their website load time has been reduced from 40 seconds to just 800 milliseconds. Read how they were able to accomplish this great task in their use case.
