Role Overview:
The Website Manager is responsible for maintaining, updating, and improving WordPress websites. This role blends backend programming (PHP, MySQL, theme/plugin development) with front-end design skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive/adaptive design). The role oversees technical performance, content management, and user experience, balancing technical precision with usability and modern design.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations, maintenance, and content updates on WordPress websites.
- Customize and develop WordPress themes and plugins to match business or client needs.
- Design and implement new features and functionality, integrating backend components with front-end experiences.
- Optimize site performance, SEO, and security (caching, image compression, code enhancements, security patches).
- Ensure cross-device and cross-browser compatibility using responsive and adaptive designs.
- Coordinate with marketers, designers, content creators, and IT to deliver on project goals.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve bugs and technical issues.
- Document processes, changes, and solutions to support ongoing management and future upgrades.
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing and developing WordPress websites end-to-end.
- Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and WordPress CMS.
- Ability to build custom themes and plugins and optimize existing assets.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and tools (e.g., marketing, analytics, CRM platforms).
- Strong eye for modern design, color, layout, UX best practices, and competitive environments.
- Familiarity with source control (e.g., Git), accessibility, and security best practices.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in WordPress site management and development preferred.
- Portfolio of live WordPress sites or references strongly preferred.
