Survey Surfaces Massive Spike in Telemetry Data Being Generated in AI Era

Apica commissioned Omdia/Informa TechTarget to survey 300 enterprise IT decision-makers, and the headline number is hard to ignore: respondents expect a 9.5x increase in telemetry data over the next two years as agentic AI scales up. About two-thirds said they’re either underprepared or flat-out unprepared to handle it, and 59% have already killed or delayed an AI project because observability costs got too high. The average org is spending $3.17M a year on observability, with 81% actively looking to cut it.
