Why should you be excited for Velocity 2016? Well we’re a week away and while looking over the conference schedule, we realized it’s going to be a jam-packed, fun-filled few days. We decided to highlight a few speaker sessions we’re most excited for.

Without further ado, we bring you the must-see sessions at Velocity 2016:

Save the day with HTTP/2 image loading by Tobias Baldauf, Web Performance Evangelist at Akamai Technologies. This topic is innovative because HTTP 2.0 is the most advanced and greatest improvement in the history of web performance optimization. Tobias will show us how to “improve speed index by 6% on top of best practices” with a simple, easy trick.

Employee burnout and its often overlooked impact on productivity by Courtney Kissler, VP of cCommerce and Store Technologies at Nordstrom. This company is a powerhouse; In 2015 they hit $14.4B USD in revenue, and they continue to grow. Want to know how they do it? I’m not sure if you’re aware, but Nordstrom is known for “treating their employees like they treat their customers”. This session is great for anyone in a leadership role who wants to learn how to be an effective leader in an ever-evolving DevOps transformation.

“Microsoft is irrelevant to me. I use a Mac”: Is this you? by Volker Will who leads the technical evangelism for Dev Ops in the Microsoft DX/TED organization. There are so many of us immersed in our Macs that we forget to stay at the forefront of other technologies and devices. We’re excited for him to open up our minds to the newest advances in non-Mac branded products.

One of the biggest bottlenecks in businesses these days is the continuously evolving developments in applications, software and the fact everything is connected. We’re looking forward to seeing the progression and upgrade of TCP and TLS, the rise of UDP, HTTP/2 and various browser APIs – from two years ago. That’s archaic.
